Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn…what if we could just forget about social media? The truth is, we can’t. Social media is shaping the way we do life and although our feeds are often littered with product pushers, lofty lifestyles, and grand gurus, we still know that social media is one of the best places to get and give true value.
Here are three ways to maximize your social media strategy so that you can “forget about it”.
- Build A Content Library
Building a content library for your social media can be challenging however it does not need to be difficult, hard or stressful. One of the biggest hurdles that you will need to climb in building a content library is how you store and access that content. With the world of Social Media, you really need access to your content on-the-go. You need to ensure that the solution that you use to store and manage your content gives you the flexibility of accessing that Social Media content whenever, wherever. Here are a few of the best Cloud Storage Management Software tools to use to store your Social Media Content.
– DropBox
They used to be the industry leader in the amount of users using their cloud storage solution however they have been surpassed. I personally am not too big of a fan of their User Interface (UI) however DropBox basically created Cloud Storage so when it comes to the safety and accessibility of your content you may not get a better solution.
– OneDrive
This is not my personal go-to for cloud storage however if you use Office365 then you might want to check out One Drive. OneDrive does have a number of useful features especially for users who are not using any Apple devices.
– Box
They are the newest solution to the game and have not really done too much work to try and stand out or be uniquely different. However, Box does have a really good Free Account storage size but it comes with an upload restriction very much like Vimeo’s free account.
To me, this is the best solution for your Social Media Content Management. Google Drive gives you a ton of space for free if you have an existing Gmail account and they also have some of the easiest and most user-friendly interfaces. It is extremely easy to get your content stored and arranged and if you need to they have the best collaboration features.
- Create A Posting Schedule
Next, you want to create a posting schedule. A posting schedule is essentially a calendar or templated way of knowing what kind of content you will post when i.e. Motivation Mondays or Tuesdays Tip. One of the things to consider when you’re creating content is what Category of social media content will it be, for example: Maybe you have a Landscaping Business and your categories could be; Tools | Maintenance | Tips | Sayings
or it could even be more granular social media content categories such as; Hand Tools | Machinery | Lawncare Tips | Seasonal Tips | Sayings
You get the drift. When beginning it is easy to just make categories in a spreadsheet, Google Sheets or Excel, and then add header categories across the top row. As you create content you will put it under one of the categories and then you can look are your calendar template which may say Machinery posts are on Tuesdays and Lawncare Tips are Fridays so you would post the content that you created on the appropriate day.
- Find Someone To Help
Finally, if you really want to “Forget About Social Media,” then you should find someone to help you with it. Keeping up with creating content in itself is a challenge especially if you are in an industry where your social media posting frequency may need to be daily or maybe even multiple times a day. The main point I want to stress here is that you make sure that you find someone who knows what they are doing, someone that you can trust because they have shown a history of success or understanding of the social media landscape. Because the social media world is ever-changing, you can not afford to work with someone who does not know or keep up with the best practices of social media posting.
In summary, you can not forget about social media posting however, it does not need to be something that consumes all of your time or energy. If you have a good strategy around how to tackle your social media then you will be OK! Now get out there and forget about it…
